Self-proclaimed Godly media network, ABS-CBN files DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) complaints against YouTube to remove videos for copyright infringement. What these dopes don’t understand is that YouTube is the #1 video sites in the world and is changing the viewing habits of people. Many are abandoning traditional TV for YouTube and similar sites. Rather than use YouTube to pimp their products, they are still under the illusion that stupid ABS-CBN Now! is a better option. Why not try to work with YouTube like CBS? Their videos will be seen more on YouTube rather than on any ABS-CBN property. If they are worried about money, stick ads before the uploaded video. I suspect ABS-CBN creating their own YouTube clone soon.

Read the letter sent to YouTube users and view a video of Irish Fullerton from Pinoy Dream Academy after the jump….

Here’s a letter sent to a YouTube user:

Dear Member:

This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by ABS-CBN claiming that this material is infringing:

Pinoy Dream Academy Irish Fullerton sexy bikini scandal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYLbu9-OzAY

Please Note: Repeat incidents of copyright infringement will result in the deletion of your account and all videos uploaded to that account. In order to avoid future strikes against your account, please delete any videos to which you do not own the rights, and refrain from uploading additional videos that infringe on the copyrights of others. For more information about YouTube’s copyright policy, please read the Copyright Tips guide.

What’s funny about this removal is that it’s not video of the stupid show. Was it for the photo? I guess there was a blanket search for “Pinoy Dream Academy”. I would like to see someone create a slideshow with all text titled “Pinoy Dream Academy sucks” to see if it is removed.

Who cares about YouTube? There are dozens of video hosting sites available at the net.

Damn ABS-CBN, Top Rank and Zuffa for their KADAMUTAN.

I agree, YouTube isn’t the best video hosting site out there anymore but it’s hard to deny it’s popularity. In just 1 day, this site got a quarter of a million exposures from them.

Fuck Pinoy Dream Academy. While those airheaded ditzes are kissing ABS-CBN’s ass for a shot at becoming their corporate slaves, smart Filipinas are making their own opportunities.

Yup. ABS-CBN Doesn’t get it. I don’t think they understand the philosophy of the internet community fot that matter and how they are missing out on exposure.

How i wish ABS-CBN would just come up with a partnership. Heck, there’s practically no store for ABS-CBN Now cards here, they should just place scrolling ads on the youtube videos or ads before the video if ever they pursue a partnership. GMA Network will surely get ahead of it anyway.

BOOO ABS-CBN on 19 December, 2006 at 10:15 pm #

ABS-CBN what? Kapamilya what? ALL LIES PERIOD.

Oh wait, you know why is that happening? Because the people running ABS-CBN are people who still lives in the 1900s. Pity…

[...] it’s basically just ABS CBN actually. It’s been widely covered by other fellow bloggers since December last year. Rickey just sent me an update on that as [...]

ABS-CBN Pulls Pinoy Dream Academy Clips Off YouTube on 15 March, 2007 at 11:30 pm #

[...] clips pulled off just because they contain the words Pinoy Dream Academy in the title, even if they don’t contain a shred of material from the show. Way to kill off your completely non-infringing free viral marketing, guys. Some intern probably [...]

As far as I know, DMCA takedowns require a sworn copyright claim. If so, ABS-CBN is guilty of perjury.

By the way, so is Viacom.

[...] ABS-CBN sends a DCMA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice for a video they don’t own - again. It was for a video of Filipina import model Sharon Sotto. I doubt she’s an ABS-CBN [...]
