paypal

Why is this a big fucking deal? This means that someone can buy shit at Divisoria and sell them on Ebay US for a high mark-up and accept Paypal. As Mike Abundo says, “This is a gamechanger“.

Besides the possible direct to consumer aspect, I hope it puts a dent in the current money remittance businesses. Maybe I won’t have to watch an annoying “Send money to the Philippines” commercial ever again.

This also means that I can hire and pay more efficiently people living in the Philippines for freelance projects at a fraction of the cost.

A new anti-terror law recently took effect in the Philippines. Left-wing lawmakers want to overthrow it calling it a “recipe for authoritarian rule.” It endangers our civil liberties won during the ousting of Marcos in 1986. One issue with the law is how terrorism is used as a blanket term for everything

The new law defines terrorism as any of at least 12 violent crimes — including murder, kidnapping, arson, piracy and rebellion — that cause widespread and extraordinary panic and force the government to give in to an unlawful demand.

From Putanginamo!com Insider

I believe that a true independent country will leave behind their colonial name in favor for something more suitable. Impossible you say? A few countries have done it. Sri Lanka used to be called Ceylon, the name given by the Portuguese.

Every time you hear Philippines, Filipino or anything derived from it such as Pinoy or Noypi, we are in essence bowing down to the ghost of King Philip II of Spain. That is why I always cringe inside when I hear people should Filipino or Pinoy pride. It’s either a) Hypocrisy b) Confusion or c) Allegiance to Spain.

Our Moro brothers in the south understand this, I wish that the majority of us indios could also break the mental shackles.

Is the so-called Philippines really independent if we still use the Spanish name for the country & people?
