After reading an article on Atheista.net about the transcript of the prayer read during the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards invocation, I was inspired to do something. I thought about writing a long post about the Atheist and their role in society but 1) I’m lazy and 2) There are people out there who can do it much better than I could.

Why do I support Pinoy Atheists? Because not long ago, our ancestors were murdered for not being Christian. Today, Atheists are shunned from society as if they were gay monsters. I suspect there are a lot more Pinoy Atheists out there but are scared to come “out of the closet” for fear of loosing jobs & loved ones.

I know I’m not a great role model for Atheists but what can I do to help the Pinoy Atheist/Agnostic community? I own the domain PinoyAtheist.com. Any ideas?

True. I have my reasons as well… Aside from realizations that science is more factual than the fictional stories of religion that I consider as mythology, growing up in a catholic country contributed to my own understanding on how contradicting their explanations are about life and reality.

Here’s a picture I took back in college in our school’s library to represent my belief. Religion and Mythology books are on the same shelf.

Hmmm… Interesting prospect you have there. Actually, I don’t really what an atheist organization could do for atheists aside from “protecting their advocacy”. I think atheism is inherently personal in nature and due to this a sense of community is often not part of the philosophy.
