The top American story is about a talk show host saying “Nappy Headed Hoe”. That’s right, we are focused on words rather than real stories like the war. I thought free speech was important to Americans.

Talk show host, Don Imus was fired today due to pressure from special interest groups.

Here’s the deal. If you don’t like what Imus said, don’t listen/watch, but defend his right to say it. It was not to incite a riot, it was done in the context of comedy. Imus using “black” language was done in jest. It’s like the old white lady rapping the Sugar Hill Gang song in the Wedding Singer movie and recently Karl Rove rapping.

What we have here is white guilt and black hypocrisy.

White guilt - White people feel that they need to be over reactive to race “situations” due to benefits they still receive from the past atrocities.

Black hypocrisy
Where’s the same outrage for rappers who talk about hoes, drugs, shooting & murder? People are picketing, threatening and screaming for the head of Don Imus. When the black community “confronts” their own (rappers), it’s treated differently. They have a “dialog” or a “hip hop summit” where nothing gets accomplished. What about Dave Chappelle or Chris Rock? Why songs to you think are on the Rutgers womens basketball team’s iPods?

Don’t be mistaken, I have no problem with rap lyrics or race humor(I like it a lot). My problem is the double standard. Rappers should be defending Imus because he was imitating them. They are next on the chopping block. Look for white people will put black people under a microscope where they will be called out when anything racial is said. Hip Hop to black comedy will be examined for racial content. If you want a double standard, admit it and be honest. Don Imus is weak and old, they(Sharpton & Jackson) avoid young and strong rappers.

On a side note, I was a store where a black customer was talking about the issue with 2 white workers. While discussing it, they were laughing even though they all agreed it was despicable. They were laughing because the comment was so outrageous and obviously out of character for an old white man.

Videos after the jump….

Great article from JASON WHITLOCK

Thank you, Don Imus. You’ve given us (black people) an excuse to avoid our real problem.

You’ve given Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson another opportunity to pretend that the old fight, which is now the safe and lucrative fight, is still the most important fight in our push for true economic and social equality.

You’ve given Vivian Stringer and Rutgers the chance to hold a nationally televised recruiting celebration expertly disguised as a news conference to respond to your poor attempt at humor.

Thank you, Don Imus. You extended Black History Month to April, and we can once again wallow in victimhood, protest like it’s 1965 and delude ourselves into believing that fixing your hatred is more necessary than eradicating our self-hatred.

The bigots win again.

While we’re fixated on a bad joke cracked by an irrelevant, bad shock jock, I’m sure at least one of the marvelous young women on the Rutgers basketball team is somewhere snapping her fingers to the beat of 50 Cent’s or Snoop Dogg’s or Young Jeezy’s latest ode glorifying nappy-headed pimps and hos.

I ain’t saying Jesse, Al and Vivian are gold-diggas, but they don’t have the heart to mount a legitimate campaign against the real black-folk killas.
